Sydney Consort - Italian & French Baroque (Concert 1)
The first of two concerts featuring music of the Baroque era. Concert 1 features music by Italian and French composers, some little-heard but sublime, other pieces by well-known favourites.

Sydney Consort is one of Australia’s most energetic music ensembles devoted to early music of the 17th and 18th Centuries and dedicated to bringing the beauty and wisdom of Baroque music to a rapidly growing audience. In 2000 Sydney Consort celebrated the vocal and instrumental music of Bach, commemorating the 250th anniversary of the composer’s death with spectacular concerts at Sydney’s St James’ Church.

Soprano Belinda Montgomery graduated in 1997 from Sydney University with a Bachelor of Music (Honours) in Voice. She later studied with Emma Kirkby and Evelyn Tubb in England and has since established a freelance career in Sydney, where she is particularly active as an early music specialist.

Sydney Consort is one of Australia’s most energetic music ensembles devoted to early music of the 17th and 18th Centuries and dedicated to bringing the beauty and wisdom of Baroque music to a rapidly growing audience. Formed in 1997 and led by artistic directors Monika and Stan Kornel, the ensemble appears regularly on classical radio programs and on Sunday Live ABC Classic FM.

As both a soloist and chorus member, Belinda Montgomery has performed extensively with Cantillation, Australia's leading professional chorus, appearing on many of their ABC recordings. Maxwell Foster piano
Winner of the 2008 ABC Symphony Australia Young Performers Awards

Maxwell Foster caught audiences’ attention around Australia in 2008 with his breathtaking performance of Tchaikovsky's Piano Concerto No. 1 with Melbourne Symphony Orchestra. With this performance he won the ABC Symphony Australia Young Performer Award for 2008 and the David Landa Memorial Scholarship for Pianists.

Maxwell is now a sought after concert performer with appearances in 2010 with the Melbourne, Adelaide, Western Australian, and Sydney Symphony Orchestras.
Maxwell has been asked to perform recitals with Musica Viva in their Melbourne and Sydney Coffee Concert Series and he is very excited to be invited to perform at Camden Haven's highly respected Musical Festival!
Beginning music as a young child in Brisbane, Maxwell was accepted into the Queensland Young Conservatorium of Music at eight where he studied under Jenni Flemming. After winning many awards in his home state of Queensland Maxwell's parents allowed him to make the huge step (at 13) of moving to Melbourne to study under Rita Reichman and to attend the Australian Academy of Music whilst boarding at Scotch College Melbourne.

Before winning the ABC Symphony Australia Young Performer's Award, Maxwell had already performed with the Queensland Orchestra, Queensland's St. Lucia Orchestra, Melbourne's Pro Musica Orchestra, Orchestra Victoria and the Melbourne Symphony.

Konstantin Shamray piano
Winner of the 2008 Sydney International Piano Competition

Konstantin Shamray was born in the Soviet Union in 1985 and studied at the Gnessin State Musical College.  Immediately after he received the 1st Prize and 8 Special Prizes in the 2008 Sydney International Piano Competition, Konstantin undertook a 27-Concert Tour of all States of Australia.

The tour was a great success. In May 2009 he performed 14 concerts around Australia with the ASQ, and from March to June 2010 Konstantin is undertaking a major tour of more than 45 concerts in Australia performing with 7 different Orchestras and giving more than 30 Solo Recitals with several different programs.

Prizes awarded to Konstantin at the 2008 SIPC apart from the First Prize, were a national tour with the Australian String Quartet; the ABC ClassicsFM recording prize; the Naxos recording prize; the People’s Choice Prize; prizes for the Best Performances of 19th/20th Century Concertos, Mozart Concerto, work by Beethoven and work by Mozart (excepting concertos).
